He has served as an external advisor to the European Commission and is a recognized expert on political risk in Eastern Europe, Turkey and the post-Soviet space. Johannes Leitner frequently leads expert and academic panels at international conferences, including, amongst others, at Cambridge University. He received his PhD from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and graduated in International Business Studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and in Southeast European Studies at the University of Vienna. In addition, he was a visiting scholar at the Stockholm School of Economics. Johannes Leitner has also been interviewed as an expert on political risk by, amongst others, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
