Scenario Planning & Business Continuity Planning

We are currently in an era of crisis and comprehensive changes in business environments, with rising volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. The crisis affects companies in their entirety, from the organizational structure and processes, to production, supply chains, products, finances, data security, employees, and the development of new markets.

Scenario planning is a strategy that was developed during the Cold War era. In times of growing geopolitical uncertainty and (hybrid) wars in connection with the paradigm shift in international relations, companies are currently (re)discovering this tool. The method is largely predefined, but can be adapted for different purposes (finance, products, security, etc.) and different actors (companies, governments, administration, military, etc.). The seven steps of scenario planning are (1) determining the main question by category, (2) identification of ALL influencing factors, (3) determining critical uncertainties, (4) making assumptions, (5) developing a limited number of most-likely scenarios, (4) carrying out an implication analysis related to the company level, (7) tailoreing coping strategies.

The solutions we offer

  • We guide our clients through all seven steps of scenario planning.

  • During the process we draw on insider information through selected experts and corporate intelligence.

  • This enables us to make balanced assumptions and develop some few most-likely scenarios.

  • We prepare our clients for the different scenarios.

  • In case of worst-case scenarios, we support our clients with business continuity planning.

  • We support our clients through targeted monitoring of developments and re-adjustment of the scenarios and strategies.
